Sports 4 the Kids, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is committed to providing families in need and financially disadvantaged youth throughout Central Florida with an opportunity to participate in local sports programs.
It is estimated that approximately 20 % of children living in the Tri-County Central Florida area (Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties) are in poverty including 10,000 homeless children .. Without programs like ours, students’ athletic potential may never be realized. We strongly believe that participation in sports will help these children develop healthy interpersonal relationships and social skills, improve their self-esteem, introduce them to new friends, enhance their physical well-being, and provide opportunities for them to stay motivated and active despite challenging personal circumstances.
The Challenges We Face
Youth sports are expensive. League registration fees, equipment, apparel, and transportation expenses can all add up to a substantial amount. We’ve estimated that the average cost to participate in a sport is about $200 per athlete each seasonSome leagues offer scholarships, but not nearly enough scholarships are offered to help all financially disadvantaged children in our community that wish to participate. At the average cost of $200 per child, Sports 4 the Kids would need to raise approximately $400,000 each year to be able to offer every eligible child in Seminole County with an opportunity to participate in an athletic program. Even a small donation can make a big difference in the lives of these children. Donate today and rovide a child with the of play a sport of his or her choosing. No donation is too small or too large!
